Vancouver Winter Fun ‘n Frolic in the Year of the Horse

Say hello to the Year of the Horse! Ushering in a year that will have rapid change, greater momentum and the opportunity to embark on more dynamic initiatives; a fitting description for the Chinese zodiac’s animal for 2026. And what better way to mark the start of the Year of the Horse than the Winter Olympics where the burst of energy from the athletes will be felt around the world. Get some inspiration from the stunning bronze statue of Nike the goddess of victory: gifted to Vancouver for it’s 2010 Olympics from the city of Olympia, Greece, the birthplace of the Olympic Games.

Pick up the pace by lacing up your skates and going for a twirl around Robson Square Skating Rink; admission is free and skate rentals are nominal. For a more leisurely pursuit, take a little ride on a water taxi from Granville Island, ferrying passenger to and from downtown from False Creek. Relax and soak up the scenic view from various points along both sides of the water.

By now it’s time to warm up! And what better way to escape the winter chill than to enjoy a steaming mug of hot chocolatey goodness from our friends at Mink Chocolates either in their café or in the comfort of your suite.

If you’re still feeling energetic, walk over to Jack Poole Plaza nearby where you just might see the flame of the Olympic Cauldron. Cheers to all as you gallop toward the pursuit of bold new journeys in 2026!
