Heeeeeeere comes summer so put on your sunnies, slip on your sandals and go outside to enjoy the fabulous sunny weather that Vancouver is known for.
As soon as you exit our front doors, you’ll find a cozy parklet that’s just brimming with activities all summer long: listen to live music, peruse the summer market booths or just sit on one of the adirondack chairs with an iced tea or latte to soak up the atmosphere. A little further down the street, cross Cordova and not more than a few minutes on foot, you’ll reach Granville Station, another outdoor area that’s perfect for a picnic lunch under the shade of ornamental cherry trees. Take in the close up view of Coal Harbour plus Canada Place where cruise ships are docked right in front. Various activities are slated through the summer including live entertainment, craft markets and food trucks.
And if your wanting further exploration, Gastown is just around the corner: our hip next door neighbour filled with indie boutiques and cafés has become a pedestrian friendly zone in July and August where there’s seating, art installations, music, pop up markets and much more. If you need any help, Evan and his colleagues at the Destination Vancouver kiosk (located at the corner of Cordova & Water) are happy to answer any and all your questions.
Concierge tips:
-Head into The Landing (on Water St) and walk straight to huge floor to ceiling bay window to catch a fantastic view of a cruise ship in dock.
-Catch the eponymous Gastown Steam Clock when it steams and whistles on the quarter hour
