Savouring Some End of Summer Fun in Vancouver

Although we’re nearly at the end of summer, there’s a few exciting outdoor activities happening in and around downtown Vancouver that should definitely be experienced…at least once!

After your morning cup of java in your suite, why not don your sunglasses and kicks and head out the front doors for some fun and frolic? Here are some top picks from our concierge that should not be missed:

  1.  Light Up Chinatown is an annual two-day outdoor festival that encourages visitors to explore the lantern-decked neighbourhood featuring plenty of food carts, live entertainment, craft and trinket stalls, and lots more. It’s a free, fun-filled family event celebrating the vibrancy of Chinatown, where you can discover the sights and sounds of one of the oldest neighbourhoods in Vancouver.

  2. Just down the street from the Auberge Hotel Vancouver is the Neighbourhood Patio pop-up outside the Bentall Centre, where there’s a pretty outdoor space scattered with tables and seating. Grab a bite and a drink from the kiosk, listen to live music, create a floral bouquet, play a few games, or just enjoy the summer vibes.

  3. For the perfect family Sunday outing, head over to the historic neighbourhood of Gastown (just a leisurely 10 minute walk from us) where the main thoroughfare of Water St is completely closed off to traffic to enable a pedestrian-friendly experience. The Gastown Sunday Set is an annual event that takes place the entire summer, filled with street performers, live entertainment, a flower market, craft booths, live community mural paintings, and so much more. And of course, there’s the icon of Gastown: the steam clock, which delights visitors and locals alike! Get ready to let off some steam while experiencing this hip ‘hood!
